Scope of work
- A rebuild by Telford and Wrekin Council of Telford Central Road and Rail Footbridges. A complex engineering project with the structure spanning 2 dual carriageways, with around 14 million vehicles a year, and a live railway with 4 trains per hour.
- Millfield to provide GRP soffit and fascias to the road and rail bridges and fully install all components on the structures which were assembled at the side of the road and railway and then lifted into place as fully completed units.
Millfield’s Approach:
- Full turnkey project starting with client collaboration to design and manufacture the best GRP components for the application. To include structural calculations, detailed design, pattern and toolmaking leading to final manufactured component part.
- Delivery and installation of these component parts by Millfield’s fully skilled team on-site, using bespoke in-house designed and built hoisting equipment to handle the very large soffit panels.
