Greengates building 101, Deansgate, Manchester
Client:
Prater
Scope of project
Millfield asked to provide a GRP ‘Halo’ around the top of this commercial building which was to mirror an adjacent building completed in 2016. The project had challenges such as extremely restricted site access and tight time constraints.
Millfield’s Approach:
In close collaboration with our client, we made a full assessment of the challenges facing the project.
We identified the need to produce a unitised system that would take advantage of the maximum road transportable size and the capacities of the onsite crane.
We reduced time onsite by developing a sub frame that would take a maximum of four standard panels, with varying sub frame sizes to suit the differing lengths of the individual elevations.
We minimised space and time required on-site by devising a system which allowed the whole job to be transported to site in just two wagon loads.
The entire façade installation was completed in just two weeks . Compared to the earlier 2016 building which had taken around sixteen weeks and which is 35% smaller than the new building.
Overall Millfield added value by shortening timescales, minimising site time and reducing on-site risks by maximising off-site pre-assembly.
